Namings

A naming ceremony can be a wonderful way of welcoming children into your family. They can be held anywhere – your own home, a village hall, or even outdoors. Some people consider naming ceremonies to be an alternative to a christening, but with more flexibility.  Usually the purpose of the ceremony is to celebrate the arrival of a new member of the family, formally introduce them to everyone and voice your intentions for your lives ahead as a family.

There are so many creative ways to celebrate your child and to name them in front of those you love!  Music, poems, readings or symbolic elements may help to declare your wishes for your child and recognise the contribution of any special guardians you may have selected. Whether it’s a more traditional or contemporary style you’re looking for, I will get to know you  before writing and delivering a ceremony that is perfect for you and your family.

Naming ceremonies aren’t just for newborns and younger children. They can also be held as a coming of age ceremony at 18 or 21 or if an adult changes their name for any reason at all.
